This campaign concerns the issue of dark skies and aims to tackle the increasing levels of light pollution in the UK.  Satellite maps show how dark skies are disappearing from our landscapes as the levels of artificial light in urban and rural areas dramatically increase, destroying the character of our countryside.
In Norfolk, over a quarter of the land area has experienced significant increases in levels of light pollution between 1993 and 2000, and truly dark skies are now only visible in 12% of the county.  The darkness of rural landscapes in Norfolk has never been in such need of our protection.
