CPRE Norfolk Awards

The CPRE Norfolk Awards Evening was held at The Great Hospital on Thursday 24th September and was a really successful and fun  evening with 130 guests filling the venue and all the short-listed entrants turning up to collect their Awards. Our President Professor O’Riordan did a terrific job as MC, Shaun Spiers CEO of CPRE  was our Guest of Honour and gave a talk on the national work of CPRE which was well-received. David Hook and Ian Shepherd, two of our stalwart Executive Committee members,  were also honoured with Head Office Volunteer Awards – David receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award and Ian receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. We were given good coverage by Chris Hill in the EDP on the day itself and again on Saturday.   Here are some lovely photographs  of the evening.

The CPRE Norfolk Awards scheme was founded in 1979 to recognise significant achievements in buildings and landscape. It is one of the longest running Awards schemes in the county and almost 500 projects have been recognised to date.  A list of CPRE Norfolk Award Winners 1979-2012 has recently been compiled and it is a fascinating and encouraging read, featuring boathouses, warrens, country houses, cartsheds, churches, ha-has and moths…

The awards are being re-launched in a new format for 2015, with three specific categories more in keeping with CPRE Norfolk’s current aims and objectives.  Each of the Awards is named after volunteers and supporters who have played an instrumental role in our activities and campaigns.  The new Awards scheme will also, for the first time, incorporate the Corbin Prize, CPRE Norfolk’s popular photographic competition for Norfolk schoolchildren.  Read more about each Award and how to enter….
