District Groups

CPRE has five active local groups in North Norfolk, South Norfolk, West Norfolk, Broadland and Breckland.  Groups meet throughout the year to discuss local planning issues, organise social events and take forward CPRE's campaigns at a district level.  New committee members are always welcome and can get involved as they wish - simply by taking part in committee meetings, by taking a small role such as Treasurer or Secretary, by helping organise social events or by looking at planning applications on behalf of CPRE.  If you have a passion or interest in your local countryside and would like to be involved, even in a small way, then please contact your local group below.

North Norfolk

The North Norfolk committee of CPRE has a strong track record of successfully influencing the local planning system.  The committee closely monitors the activities of North Norfolk District Council and sits on numerous council consultative groups, responding to local policy consultations and planning applications.  The committee were heavily involved in fighting the Tesco supermarket application and resulting Public Inquiry at Sheringham.  Members also take an active interest in coastal issues and serve on the various coastal forums in the area.  The committee meets quarterly at the North Norfolk District Council offices in Cromer and new members are always welcome.  Contact Dr. Ian Shepherd, Policy Co-ordinator, on 01263 713370 / andianshep@aol.com for further details.

South Norfolk

Meetings of CPRE South Norfolk take place in Long Stratton at the South Norfolk council offices, 6 to 8 times a year.  The committee has an active social calendar of walks, visits and talks throughout the year and help is always welcome.  Members also keep an eye on planning applications in the local area and monitor South Norfolk council's emerging Local Development Framework.  Contact Barry Porter, Committee Member, on 01508 491633 / barryp@btinternet.com for further details.

West Norfolk

CPRE West Norfolk meet 8 times a year in King's Lynn.  Members sit on consultative committees for the Nar-Ouse Regeneration Area and have strong links with the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk and with the local MP.  Planning applications are widely monitored and planning seminars have been organised to support parish and town councils in the district.  The committee also has a varied social calendar, incorporating an Annual Supper in Snettisham, an Annual Lunch in South Wootton and various visits and walks throughout the year.  Contact the Secretary, Tony Kendall, on 01553 631539 / kendallajv@aol.com for further details.

Breckland

The Breckland committee of CPRE work closely with the Breckland Society on issues of common interest, while taking an active role in monitoring planning at a district level.  The group has been fully involved in consultations on the Local Development Framework for the area and attended sessions in the Plan's Examination-in-Public.  The committee meets a few times a year at the Chairman's house in Quidenham and new members are needed to widen the committee's expertise and interest.  Contact the Chairman, John Salisbury on 01953 887414 for further details.

Broadland

The CPRE Broadland committee meets every 6 weeks at the Acting Treasurer's house in North East Norwich.  The committee has ongoing dialogue with Broadland District Council over planning applications and monitors the Council's involvement in the Greater Norwich Development Partnership.  Links have been made with parish councils throughout the district and one or two social events are organised throughout the year.  Contact the Chairman, Neil Woodruff, on 01263 862970 / n_woodruff@hotmail.co.uk for further details.
