Cleaner countryside

Two people walking in high-vis jackets with litterpicking gear

Litter spoils our enjoyment of the countryside and can be harmful for wildlife and people. We’re working towards a litter-free countryside for everyone.

Keeping Norfolk clean

Working together with district and county councils, we look at fresh ways to tackle the litter problem, campaigning to clean up Norfolk and prevent the spread of litter and fly tipping across the county.

We also engage with parish councils, community groups and schools across Norfolk to encourage local people to get involved with keeping their corner of Norfolk beautiful.

Join us in making our countryside healthy, clean and tranquil.

Organise a litter pick in your area

Unfortunately, CPRE Norfolk’s litter picking equipment is not currently available for loan.

However, we still actively encourage Parish councils, resident associations, schools, scout groups and individuals use their own equipment to pick litter in their area or to join their local litter picking group.

For advice on organising a community litter pick, please visit keepbritaintidy.org or cleanupuk.org.uk

Support our campaign for a deposit return scheme to reduce litter

CPRE have been calling for an all-in deposit return scheme (DRS) for many years.

A DRS works by a small deposit being added on to the price of all drinks containers, from wine bottles to fizzy drinks cans. This is then paid back upon returning the container to a designated machine or shop.

DRS is a simple, effective, and cheap way of reducing the amount of litter and increasing recycling because people have more of a financial incentive to make sure their rubbish ends up where it belongs.
