We want everyone to have genuine, sustainable travel choices, keeping cars of the road and pollution out of the atmosphere.

We know that sustainable public transport options can be really lacking in rural areas, and the transport sector currently accounts for the largest share of UK greenhouse gas emissions. That’s why we’re working hard to advocate for local transport improvements, reducing loneliness and isolation by improving connectivity and access for everyone.

CPRE research identifies rural ‘transport deserts’. Do you live in one?

We all deserve to be able to get to work and to places to socialise and reach local services like our GP easily. Making sure that we can all reliably and affordably reach the facilities that we need is a basic part of living in a fair society.

CPRE research shows that outside of England’s major cities, communities are being left in ever-expanding ‘transport deserts’ with inadequate bus and train connections and cannot travel conveniently on a day-to-day basis without needing to drive.
