Green Belts are the countryside next door for 30 million people and act as the green lungs for our largest cities. But why were they established, and why are they still important more than 60 years later? Here's all you need to know about Green Belts 👇 https://www.cpre.org.uk/discover/what-is-the-green-belt/
CPRE Norfolk feels that the soundness of the Greater Norwich Local Plan (GNLP) should be challenged on several grounds, one of which is a failure to have adequately assessed the need for a Green Belt. Add your voice! Participate in the GNLP consultation at https://www.gnlp.org.uk/
Fresh call for 'green wedges' to protect countryside around Norwich https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/housing/cpre-in-green-belt-for-norwich-call-7789242
BREAKING: Housebuilding proposed on Green Belt in local plans has quadrupled in the past eight years, with just 1 in 10 considered affordable. On this trajectory, we risk losing ever more Green Belt while having no impact on the housing crisis. https://news.sky.com/story/englands-green-belt-under-extreme-pressure-as-planned-developments-increase-four-fold-in-eight-years-12228248
Local countryside and green spaces have been a lifeline through lockdown, so this level of threat to the Green Belt is very worrying. The government must act to stop the loss of Green Belt and put access to nature at the heart of our planning system. https://www.cpre.org.uk/news/pressure-on-our-green-belts-quadruples/
Check out the Eastern Daily Press' article on our call for 'green wedges', backed by the petition signed by nearly 2,300 people. https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/housing/cpre-in-green-belt-for-norwich-call-7789242 If you haven't already, don't forget to sign and share our petition! https://www.change.org/p/broadland-district-council-and-south-norfolk-council-green-belt-for-norfolk #GreenBeltforNorwich
CPRE Norfolk's vision for the Green Belt for Norwich is on the ‘green wedges’ model, whereby protected green corridors would radiate from the city into the surrounding countryside. This would provide long term access to green space for Norwich residents. #GreenBeltforNorwich
CPRE Norfolk is calling again for a Green Belt for Norwich, to protect the rural open character around the city! Download CPRE Norfolk's leaflet on a Green Belt for Norwich here: https://www.cprenorfolk.org.uk/news/green-belt-for-norwich-new-cpre-norfolk-leaflet/
