A successful launch to the Dark Skies Festival – helped by CPRE Norfolk
The annual Dark Skies Festival held a launch event on 10th October with CPRE Norfolk trustee, David Hook, giving a presentation at the event.
Every year, Norfolk Coast Protected Landscape (NCPL) hosts a Dark Skies Festival – a series of free events from October to March helping you to experience the night skies of our coast like never before.
This year’s launch event was held on Friday 10th October at Blakeney Village Hall and included a presentation on the impact of light pollution by CPRE Norfolk trustee, David Hook.
The launch event was well attended and David’s talk was well received. He explained the important contribution that the dark skies and dark landscapes of Norfolk make to the character of the county and how a survey of all the parish councils in Norfolk revealed just how much residents treasure these aspects of the rural night.
He also described the actions that can be taken by individuals and councils to prevent light pollution.

The Norfolk Coast Protected Landscape is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) covering most parts of the North Norfolk coastline and some areas along the East Norfolk shoreline.
