Welcome to the Getting Solar OFF the Land exhibition

Renewables Done Well for Norfolk

CPRE Norfolk welcomes you to Getting Solar OFF the Land, a major exhibition that explores what large-scale, developer-led solar schemes could mean for our county’s countryside, and what a better path to Net Zero could look like.

Across Norfolk, tens of thousands of acres of farmland and open countryside are being proposed for industrial-scale solar development.

These projects would transform the landscapes that define our county, from productive agricultural land to wild habitats and the open skies that attract visitors from across the UK.

CPRE Norfolk supports the UK’s Net Zero ambitions and the transition to clean, renewable energy.

But this must be done in the right places, at the right scale, and in the right way, protecting food production, biodiversity, and the rural character that makes Norfolk unique.

This exhibition brings together data, visuals, and community voices to show:

  • What is proposed for Norfolk
  • The scale and potential consequences of these developments
  • The alternatives that work better for people, nature, and the climate
  • How we can all take action for Renewables Done Well

Each section expands on the exhibition boards displayed at Dereham Memorial Hall, with research, maps, case studies and real-world examples of renewables done well.

Use the links below to explore the journey from impact to action, and find out what we can all do to protect Norfolk’s countryside for generations to come.
